Activity Packs for Children

Published by The Budget-Minded Bride Blog at 1:46 PM

When couples are planning to have children attend their wedding, couples need to keep children entertained during the ceremony and the reception. Couples can find inexpensive items to create small activity packs for children. Items to include in an activity pack would be color pages, inexpensive color books, dolls and action figures, hand-held games, doodle board, magic screens, rubic cube (magic cubes), or slide puzzles (Oriental Trading and $1.00 stores should have these items). Another item that could be included in the activity pack is a lollipop, but supervision is required for that particular snack. The items in this activity pack will keep children busy for hours!

Creating the activity packs for kids could not be any simpler by using canvas totes or back packs to carry all the activity items and include each child's name tag on the bag. If you can try to make the activity packs theme related to the wedding as well because children like to feel included or apart of the entire wedding celebration.

We hope you have enjoyed our ideas for activity packs for children at weddings. Cherry Blossom Cookies

Published by The Budget-Minded Bride Blog at 10:13 PM

If you are having a cherry blossom theme to your wedding, you are going to absolutely love the recipe I found for cherry blossom cookies! This is just a few handfuls of fluttery tuiles made with a floral cookie cutter and then dipped in pink chocolate! With this cookie recipe, three sizes of cherry blossom cutters were purchased from downtowndough.com! Enjoy this wonderful cherry blossom cookie recipe for your wedding reception or bridal shower!

Cherry Blossom Cookie Recipe By Martha Stewart

Ingredients
Makes about 2 dozen (variety of sizes)
• 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
• 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
• 2 large egg whites
• 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
• Vegetable-oil cooking spray
• 6 ounces white chocolate, melted
• Rose-pink food coloring

Directions
1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Whisk sugar and flour in a bowl. Add egg whites, then butter; whisk until smooth.
2. Line baking sheet with nonstick baking mat; coat with cooking spray. Thinly spread batter onto prepared baking sheet to cover. Bake until edges begin to turn light golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Immediately remove from oven; place sheet on a wire rack. Working quickly and carefully, cut shapes into cookie with cutter. If it becomes too hard to cut, return baking sheet to the oven for about 30 seconds until it becomes more pliable. Once cookie is filled with cut-out shapes, return to oven, and bake until most of cookie is golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes more.
3. Remove from oven; transfer individual cookies to a tray. To shape some of the cookies, mold into a cuplike shape, and set in a small shallow bowl to cool. Store in an airtight container up to 2 days.
4. Shortly before serving, stir a small drop of food coloring into melted white chocolate to tint. Dip each cookie into tinted chocolate using a chocolate fork. Place on a piece of acetate so chocolate stays smooth; transfer to refrigerator to set for about 30 minutes.
